PCMC Makes Significant Progress in Property Tax Collection for FY 2023-24

30 Jun 2023

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has achieved 35% of its property tax target for the 2023-24 fiscal year within the first three months. With a total recovery of ₹350 crore, the PCMC aims to collect ₹1,000 crore by the end of the financial year. This success can be attributed to effective strategies such as door-to-door delivery of property tax bills, inclusion of new properties, and updated information about existing properties. Property owners have been offered discounts ranging from 10% to 20% if they pay their entire property tax by June 30, resulting in approximately 2.52 lakh property owners taking advantage of these tax concessions. However, the PCMC is prepared to take action against defaulters who fail to meet the deadline. Attachment actions will commence from July 1, and a late fee of 2% per month will be imposed as per the provisions of the law. The PCMC is actively raising awareness among citizens regarding their tax dues, resulting in partial and full payments from individuals with arrears. Out of the 39,138 defaulters who have received attachment notices, 4,122 have already paid their taxes. The PCMC commissioner emphasises the meticulous planning behind the attachment actions and urges citizens to cooperate by paying their taxes on time to avoid potential financial losses and consequences of attachment actions.
