Over 100 large housing projects in Pimpri-Chinchwad and nearby areas have come to a standstill after the Supreme Court stayed a recent Union Environment Ministry notification. This stay has once again made central-level environmental approvals mandatory, delaying projects worth over ₹30,000 crore and impacting both developers and homebuyers.
The notification had earlier allowed state-level approvals for projects up to 1.5 lakh sq. meters, providing relief to Pune’s real estate sector. However, with the stay in place, these projects already delayed for over six months now face further setbacks, increased costs, and potential property price hikes.
