The long-awaited Sinhagad Road flyover project is nearing completion and is expected to be ready by March this year, offering much-needed relief to commuters facing heavy traffic jams on this arterial stretch. The two-way, 2.2-km flyover runs from Rajaram Bridge Chowk to the Fun Time Multiplex junction, bypassing seven key junctions and significantly reducing travel time for motorists heading towards Wadgaon Budruk or the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass. Civic officials confirmed that work on the stretch between Vitthal Mandir and Dhayari is in its final stages. However, ongoing construction has caused temporary challenges for commuters, including poorly planned diversions, traffic jams, and health concerns due to gravel and dust.
The Rs118-crore project, which began in October 2021, has seen a partial opening of the Rajaram Bridge section for traffic. Residents and commuters have expressed frustrations over the delays and the resulting inconvenience, urging the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to expedite the remaining work. A senior PMC official assured that project work has been accelerated following the lifting of the election code of conduct, and the administration is committed to completing the flyover within the stipulated time frame.
