The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued notices to owners of over 24,000 properties that were not registered with the property tax department. This action follows a recent property assessment survey that identified approximately 2 lakh unregistered properties, including newly-constructed structures and existing properties with unreported additional construction. The PCMC has instructed these property owners to register their properties and pay any pending dues, noting that the civic body can collect property tax for up to six years retroactively. Notices will be sent to the owners of an additional 75,000 properties by July 31 to bring them under the tax ambit, thereby increasing revenue. Citizens can submit objections in writing at zonal offices, with immediate hearings available at seven centres across the city and online.
