The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated land acquisition for the widening of Ganeshkhind Road, a crucial stretch between Agriculture College and Sancheti Hospital. As part of this effort, PMC has already acquired 12 properties to make way for road expansion, even as the construction of a flyover and Metro line continues along the route. According to civic officials, this move is part of a larger plan to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area.

In the upcoming second phase of the project, PMC plans to acquire a total of 52 additional properties,38 privately owned and 14 belonging to government institutions. Key establishments from which land will be required include the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), and Akashwani, apart from Agriculture College. Civic officials have stated that the land acquisition is being carried out as per the instructions of the municipal commissioner, and efforts are underway to expedite the process for timely execution of the road widening project.
