Team WACO (Wagholi Against Corruption Organization) has filed a writ petition in the High Court against Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for collecting property taxes in Wagholi without providing essential infrastructure like roads, water supply, and drainage systems. According to the group's president, despite organising protests and raising concerns for years, PMC has failed to address the poor infrastructure in the rapidly growing area. Team WACO argues that it is unfair for residents to pay taxes when basic services are not in place.
The petition seeks an immediate suspension of property tax collection in Wagholi until the necessary infrastructure is provided. Team WACO has stated that despite repeated efforts, including protests and legal notices, PMC has continued to neglect the area's needs. The group is now turning to the court for a resolution, emphasising that the issue is not just about taxes but also about ensuring residents receive the essential services they deserve.
