In a significant move, MahaRERA has announced a new mandate for developers to prominently display the MahaRERA number and QR code on all advertisements related to housing projects, including websites, starting from August 1. This measure aims to enhance transparency and accessibility for potential homebuyers. Failure to comply with this directive will result in fines of up to Rs 50,000 for developers, and persistent non-compliance for 10 days with inadequately printed QR codes will be considered a "continuing breach of instructions," leading to appropriate actions as per the rules. Prior to this decision, individuals had to remember the RERA number and manually search the MahaRERA website for project details. With the implementation of QR codes, customers can now access comprehensive information about the project with just one click, eliminating the need to remember any numbers.
Developers have been utilising various media platforms such as newspapers, electronic media, Instagram, Twitter, WhatsApp, etc., to promote their project features and attract investments. However, in line with the new regulations, it has become mandatory for developers to print the MahaRERA number and website on all advertisements across any medium. Additionally, starting from August 1, the QR code must also be displayed and printed, enabling potential homebuyers to access crucial project details effortlessly. The QR code will provide comprehensive information about the project, including the project's name, developer's name, expected completion date, registration date, existence of any complaints against the project, project approvals, any post-approval plan modifications, and project registration renewal status. This user-friendly feature aims to empower customers to make informed decisions regarding their investments in housing projects, further reinforcing transparency and accountability in the real estate sector. MahaRERA had already initiated the issuance of QR codes for newly registered housing projects in March and is now taking proactive steps to include them in advertisements for both new and existing projects, commencing from August 1.
