Officials from the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) have announced this week that the extension of the Hinjawadi-Shivaji Nagar Metro Line to Hadapsar-Loni Kalbhor is viable through a public-private partnership (PPP) model. The proposed 23-kilometre extension will incorporate a connecting line from Race Course to Swargate, facilitating the integration of Maha Metro lines with PMRDA's project. It has been confirmed that the entire Line-3, including the extension, will be elevated, as per statements from a PMRDA chief engineer.
The pre-feasibility report indicates that the extension can be undertaken through a PPP model, as affirmed by the PMRDA chief engineer. Additionally, according to the Pune Metropolitan Area Development Authority (PUMTA) committee, sub-routes from Shivajinagar to Loni Kalbhor, Hadapsar (Gadital) to Saswad Road (Mantarwadi Phata), and Race Course to Swargate will all be developed as part of the Pune Metro Line-4 and Line-5 projects.
