Traffic Department and PMC to File Complaints Against Encroachers on 32 Roads

19 Jul 2024

The Pune traffic police and PMC will file criminal complaints against establishments encroaching on footpaths and carriageways of 32 major roads, disrupting traffic. These roads, crucial for daily commutes, are currently hampered by eateries, garages, and illegal parking. Notices are being issued, and criminal complaints will follow under section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The PMC will also ensure these roads remain pothole-free, connect incomplete roads, and widen existing ones to improve traffic flow and increase vehicle speed from 8-10 km/h to 18-20 km/h. Roads targeted in this initiative include Solapur Road, Kharadi Bypass to Magarpatta Road, Pune-Saswad Road, Alandi Road, Ahmednagar Road, New Airport Road, Bajirao Road, Nehru Road, Shivaji Road, North Main Road, JM Road, and FC Road. The PMC and traffic police aim to improve traffic flow and provide relief to motorists across the city.
