Maha Metro and PMC have finalized plans to construct a Metro station in the Balaji Nagar-Bharati Vidyapeeth area, marking the fourth station on the Swargate-Katraj stretch. This decision follows a series of discussions and approvals, with Maha Metro agreeing to fund the construction. The station is expected to benefit local commuters and college students, with PMC's standing committee recently granting the necessary permissions. Local leaders emphasized the station's importance in extending Metro connectivity to a larger population.
The Swargate-Katraj Metro stretch spans 5.4km, with groundwork scheduled to begin in February 2025. Soil testing and surveys are already underway, and Maha Metro is appointing agencies for tunneling and related works. The Katraj-Swargate tunnel will seamlessly connect to the existing Pimpri Chinchwad-Swargate Metro tunnel, ensuring smooth transitions at Swargate station, which has been designed to accommodate future needs.
