PMC Fines Developer for Sewage Disposal on NIBM Annexe Roads

04 Jan 2025

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) health department fined Acropolis Purple developers ₹10,000 on January 2 for releasing sewage onto roads in the NIBM Annexe area. According to a PMC official, similar actions have been taken before, and the department continues to monitor violations. Residents welcomed the move, as they have long demanded accountability for the poor conditions in the area caused by overflowing sewage, waterlogging, and garbage-filled streets.

Residents expressed frustration over years of neglect despite paying significant property taxes. “The civic apathy in NIBM Annexe is appalling, especially considering the ₹200 crore property tax collected from residents,” said Jaymala Dhankikar, a local resident. While the health department’s action was appreciated, residents remain critical of the PMC for failing to address these chronic issues. The developer was unavailable for comment.
