The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has issued notices to 52,000 newly identified properties as part of an ongoing property assessment survey. So far, over 2 lakh properties have been discovered that were previously unregistered with the tax department. Of these, 52,787 property owners received notices, and 22,582 have filed objections. Out of those, 16,953 have submitted the necessary documents, with 4,261 already paying ₹8.99 crore in property tax. The survey involves geo-sequencing and internal measurement of properties, aiming to bring all unregistered properties under the tax net.
To ease the objection process, PCMC has introduced an online system using QR codes on the notices. Property owners can file objections or make payments through the online portal, receiving swift resolutions. Additionally, new properties are eligible for various tax discounts, including a 5% discount for online payments. The PCMC commissioner encouraged citizens to take advantage of these services for faster and more convenient processing.
