The city traffic police have started geotagging potholes across Pune's roads to track repairs and identify new ones causing traffic jams. In the last two weeks, they have geotagged 800 potholes, sharing the data with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials to ensure timely repairs. This initiative aims to create a permanent digital system for road maintenance. A separate police vehicle equipped for geotagging photographs the potholes and logs their locations, which are then sent to civic authorities for action. Police will re-inspect the roads after repairs to ensure the work is completed effectively.
