Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) has proposed the excision of 326 acres in civilian areas, including Khadki Bazaar, Sapras, and Sangamwadi, for merger with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The move, discussed with Southern Command and other military authorities, would integrate around 29,000 residents into PMC. KCB's CEO stated that individuals constructing within 100 meters of Army establishments would need a no-objection certificate (NoC) as part of security measures. A presentation on the proposal was shared with PMC, which will provide its feedback to the state government.
The merger has sparked interest due to Khadki’s central location and rising real estate value. However, construction of high-rise buildings and housing societies will face stringent security checks. A senior Army officer emphasized that projects with potential security risks would not receive NoCs, as defense establishment safety remains the top priority.
