The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched its annual property tax collection drive with a strong digital push, sending over 10.5 lakh property tax bills via SMS and email. Physical copies are also being dispatched citywide, excluding the 32 newly merged villages. Tax payments for properties within core PMC limits began on May 2 and can be made either online or at the corporation’s citizen service centres. The PMC taxation department has stressed digital payments to ensure faster processing and reduce administrative load.
However, property owners in the merged villages continue to face uncertainty as the state government has yet to provide legal clarity on tax implementation in these areas. While 4.5 lakh provisional bills have been generated under current rules, they will not be delivered by post and can only be accessed online. Officials confirmed that no formal recovery or enforcement will proceed in these villages until the state issues a directive, leaving residents in a state of limbo regarding their property tax obligations.
