Land Acquisition Progress Boosts Widening Project for KatrajKondhwa Road in Pune
The widening of Katraj Kondhwa road in Pune is set to gain momentum as the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is making progress in acquiring key land parcels, which will expedite the project. PMC officials have confirmed that work at these locations will commence shortly, as they continue constructive discussions with landowners who have expressed their willingness to cooperate. This development is crucial as the 3.5-km road widening project has been moving slowly for the past four years due to a lack of available land, with over 50% of the required land still not in PMC's possession. This ongoing issue has been causing persistent traffic problems for commuters in the area, prompting authorities to prioritize the project for the benefit of the public.
Commuters have expressed concerns about the disorganized construction work contributing to traffic congestion and bottlenecks. They stress the urgent need for widening the stretch from Katraj chowk to Khadi Machine chowk, as a lack of coordination among implementing agencies has been a major cause of delays in land acquisition and road expansion.
