The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated groundwork for a flyover at Gangadham Chowk on the Bibwewadi-Lullanagar stretch to address traffic congestion. Preliminary activities such as soil testing, traffic assessments, and road widening are underway, with encroachments being cleared and utility poles already relocated. PMC officials stated that the flyover, coming up on a key arterial road, is expected to significantly ease vehicle movement in the area, and efforts are being made to ensure smoother traffic flow during construction.
Regular commuters have welcomed the move but emphasized the need for better planning to manage traffic, especially considering the presence of heavy vehicles from the nearby Market Yard. They also suggested widening sharp junctions to improve turn radius and reduce bottlenecks. The civic body is reportedly exploring an additional road to help decentralize vehicular movement during the flyover construction phase.
