PMC Seeks 15 Government Land Parcels to Fast-Track Key City Projects

22 Jan 2025

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has requested 15 government land parcels from the state to fast-track several stalled projects. Key initiatives like the 24x7 water supply plan, road widening at Mundhwa, and the development of a playground in Shivajinagar are awaiting land allocation. A senior PMC official emphasized that many projects are delayed due to land unavailability, including water tank construction in Bavdhan and Mhalunge, road works in Kothrud and Ambegaon, and riverbank beautification in Sangamwadi. Additionally, land is needed for road widening in Bhamburde and Mundhwa, as well as for a railway overbridge in Ghorpadi.

The district collector currently manages these government lands, and the PMC has submitted a proposal seeking their allocation. The civic body estimates it will need approximately ₹25 crore to procure the 15 parcels. This acquisition has already been approved in the standing committee and general body meeting, setting the stage for smoother execution of these crucial urban development projects.
