In the past 10 days, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has taken significant steps towards improving its service to consumers by clearing over 1 lakh new electricity connection applications. This move aims to provide a hassle-free experience to those seeking electrical connections. Among the regions, the Pune division emerged as the second-highest recipient of new connection approvals after Navi Mumbai in the state. Prior to this effort, MSEDCL officials identified a backlog of 1.17 lakh pending applications for new connections as of June 20. To address this backlog promptly, the officials were instructed to prioritise clearing these applications. As a result, 13,311 pending applications in the Navi Mumbai zone, 12,296 applications in Pune division, and 8,915 applications in the Baramati division have been successfully processed by MSEDCL over the past ten days. Acknowledging the importance of the remaining pending applications, MSEDCL officials have assured that they will also be cleared on priority. In addition to the backlog, MSEDCL received 59,918 new connection applications after June 20. Out of these, 20,561 applications were processed and approved within the first ten days.
