PMRDA Launches Land Acquisition for Road Network Expansion Across Region

02 Jun 2025

To boost infrastructure and reduce traffic congestion across the Pune Metropolitan Region, the PMRDA has launched a major land acquisition drive starting May 28. The plan involves acquiring land for 150 proposed roads and around 85 hectares of reserved plots spread across key talukas like Maval, Haveli, Mulshi, and Shirur. PMRDA Commissioner emphasized that proactively securing land is critical to avoid project delays and to ensure sustainable urban growth in the region’s rapidly expanding 6,200+ sq km area.

To carry this out, PMRDA has floated a tender to appoint a consultant who will manage the entire land acquisition process. This includes everything from conducting surveys and estimating compensation for affected landowners to helping with legal and administrative procedures under the Land Acquisition Act of 2013. The selected consultant will work for a 30-month period, and the project is set to begin within two weeks of their appointment. Interested firms must submit their proposals by June 6, 2025.
