After nearly six months of frustrating detours and long diversions, traffic at Katraj Chowk has finally returned to normal. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) had imposed restrictions from November 29, 2024, to carry out segmental launching work on the ongoing flyover project. This forced daily commuters to take alternate routes stretching 2–3 km, significantly increasing travel time and causing inconvenience to thousands of residents and motorists in the area.
Relief came late Friday night as authorities officially lifted the restrictions. “We’ve been waiting for this moment. The daily traffic loops had become a part of life,” said Mandar Darade, a Katraj resident. While NHAI completed the girder work in February, cement roadwork by PMC near the flyover delayed reopening. With pressure from local citizens and traffic police intervention, PMC rushed to finish the work, finally clearing the way for the much-needed return to the regular traffic flow.
