Mandai Metro Barricades to Go Soon as Entry Point Opens, Locals Urge Quick Completion

11 Jun 2025

After nearly three years of congestion and frustration, commuters and traders in Pune's Mandai area are finally seeing some relief. Maha Metro has completed work on a key entry-exit point of the Mandai Metro station, clearing up a significant portion of the space previously blocked by barricades. This development has improved access and brought some order to the otherwise chaotic traffic situation. However, a portion on the left side of the station remains barricaded, as Maha Metro is still building rehabilitation shops for local vendors a process expected to wrap up in the coming months. Locals have urged authorities to finish the work before Ganeshotsav, expressing impatience with the prolonged inconvenience and urging for quicker completion of the remaining tasks.

Despite the operational Metro station which sees over 15,000 daily commuters issues like illegal vendors, encroachments, and unregulated parking continue to plague the area. Traders like emphasized the need for stricter enforcement to prevent chaos around the station, while residents pointed out the lack of visible progress even eight months after the station opened. Meanwhile, Maha Metro is also finalizing a new entry-exit at Civil Court station and preparing the Khadki Metro station for opening, pending inspection and approval from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety. The Khadki station’s seamless link to the nearby railway station promises improved connectivity in the coming weeks.
