In a major step toward empowering homebuyers and ensuring greater transparency, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has revamped its project registration certificates to include all critical information in a clear, easy-to-read format. Starting immediately, newly registered projects will have certificates displaying key facts like total built-up area, number of buildings and wings, approved floors, unit counts, parking availability, and commencement certificate status all presented in bullet points for quick reference. Officials said this move ensures that what’s shown on the MahaRERA website and project advertisements is also officially documented on the certificate itself.
This reform means buyers can now verify crucial project details at a glance before making life-altering investments. Any updates to the project such as delays, developer changes, or structural modifications will also be reflected on a revised certificate. Developers are now mandated to display these updated certificates at the project site and online. This initiative builds on other buyer-focused changes by MahaRERA, such as standardised sale agreements and clearer disclosure of parking and amenities. Homebuyers and experts alike have welcomed this as a long-overdue but much-needed move to promote trust and accountability in the housing sector.
