Land Acquisition for PMRDA Ring Road Speeds Up

20 Jul 2025

The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has made significant progress on the 83-km-long Ring Road project, aimed at easing traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad. Joint land surveys an essential step before acquisition have been completed in 10 out of 12 villages identified under Phase 1. However, resistance from residents in Jambhulwadi and Kadam Vasti has delayed the process there. PMRDA officials plan to initiate dialogue with locals to address concerns and resume pending surveys.

Land acquisition is already underway in areas where measurements are complete, with compensation to be decided based on market rates by the district committee. Villages like Pisoli, Bhilarewadi, Vadgaon Shinde, and Yewlewadi have seen successful surveys. Once completed, the ring road is expected to offer a much-needed bypass for city traffic, improving connectivity and access across the rapidly expanding metropolitan region. A public notice regarding acquisition and compensation is expected soon.
