In a strong move to boost property tax recovery, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) will start seizing assets from July 1 if dues remain unpaid. The civic body has warned that defaulters risk losing household items such as vehicles, TVs, refrigerators, and other valuables. The drive comes after the PCMC collected ₹465.55 crore in property tax between April and June, falling short of its ₹1,000 crore target. Property owners who’ve already received pre-seizure notices can expect action soon, while fresh notices will be sent to other defaulters in the coming days.
Officials are urging citizens to clear their dues immediately to avoid penalties and asset seizure. A 10% discount is being offered to those who pay their full tax online before June 30, along with other concessions set to expire on the same date. “Strict action will be taken against defaulters and those with bounced cheques,” warned PCMC officials. They’ve appealed to residents to use the final days of June to settle payments and avoid legal trouble starting July.
