Residents Throwing Garbage from Windows Trouble Pune Housing Societies
An evening stroll in a housing society turned tragic for a resident who was seriously injured after being hit on the head by a beverage can thrown from an upper floor. This shocking incident highlights a growing menace in many Pune societies residents casually discarding garbage like eggshells, vegetable peels, tissues, and even used diapers from windows and balconies. Despite repeated warnings, fines, and awareness efforts by society committees, many continue to show a complete lack of civic sense, turning shared spaces into dangerous and unhygienic zones.
Housekeeping staff and residents alike express frustration as they clean up after careless neighbours and dodge falling waste, with some even being hit by items like tobacco spit. A society worker shared how they often avoid certain buildings because of repeated spitting incidents. Beyond the daily mess, these actions pose serious legal risks. According to legal experts, objects falling from residential buildings whether flowerpots or food packets can lead to civil lawsuits under tort law. Residents and housing societies are both responsible for ensuring public safety and can be held liable for injuries caused by their negligence.
