In a dramatic turn of events, disgruntled Pune residents are gearing up for a massive protest against the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on August 9 to express their frustration over the authorities' persistent failure in addressing pressing issues plaguing the city.
With a budget of Rs 10,000 crore and a workforce of over 16,000 employees, the PMC is under scrutiny for its inability to tackle recurring problems like potholes, water cuts, tree cutting, sewage management, electricity disruptions, and environmental degradation, including encroachments on water bodies and hills.
The condition of roads, worsened during the monsoon, has led to a spike in accidents and created hazardous driving conditions. Pune citizens are now coming together to demand prompt action from the PMC, with hopes that the protest will bring about long-overdue improvements and prompt the authorities to address the city's woes post-August 9.
