Western Pune Ring Road Set for 2026 Completion, Eastern Stretch by 2028

The Maharashtra government has outlined fresh timelines for key infrastructure projects aimed at easing traffic congestion across Pune city and its surrounding rural areas. Responding in the state Assembly, the Revenue Minister confirmed that the western section of the Pune Ring Road is scheduled for completion by May 2026, while the eastern section is expected to be completed by May 2028. Work is currently underway on all five packages of the western ring road, while nine out of twelve packages of the eastern ring road are progressing, with the remaining packages awaiting administrative approval.

The government also shared updates on metro and road connectivity projects across Pune district. The technical feasibility of the proposed Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor metro corridor will be examined to improve public transport access in eastern Pune and nearby rural areas. Road projects such as the Pune Shirur six lane highway, Hadapsar Yavat road upgradation, Shirur to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar greenfield road, and the Talegaon Chakan Shikrapur elevated corridor are in various stages of tendering and execution. Officials stated that these projects are intended to reduce long term traffic bottlenecks and support balanced regional development.
