Maha-Metro to Deploy Extra Security at Mandai and Kasba Stations for Ganeshotsav

26 Aug 2025

With Ganeshotsav set to begin on August 27, Maha-Metro is gearing up for a massive festive rush along its newly operational underground route from District Court to Swargate. Since this is the first year citizens will be able to use this stretch during the festival, authorities are expecting a heavy influx of devotees heading towards popular Ganpati mandals near Mandai and Kasba. To ensure smooth movement, extra staff and police personnel will be deployed at key stations, while station managers have been instructed to strengthen crowd management and traffic planning.

Last year, this underground route opened only after Ganeshotsav due to election-related delays, but this time, Maha-Metro has gone a step further by extending service hours and running additional trains. Senior officials, including the Maha-Metro MD and Pune’s deputy commissioner of police, personally inspected Mandai and Kasba stations on Sunday to review preparedness. With these measures, devotees will not only avoid traffic snarls but also get easier and faster access to the city’s most prominent Ganpati mandals.
