Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the district collector’s office on Tuesday reviewed the slow progress of land acquisition for several key road projects across the city, including the Katraj-Kondhwa Road, Wakad-Balewadi Road, and Shivane-Kharadi Road. The meeting, attended by senior officials from PMC’s road department, land acquisition team, and project heads, focused on clearing bottlenecks that have been delaying work. The municipal commissioner directed the road department to immediately release funds needed for the acquisition process, while reminding officers of earlier instructions to stick to strict timelines and, if necessary, use compulsory acquisition to keep projects on track.
During the discussions, officials stressed the urgency of completing the first phase of land acquisition for the Katraj-Kondhwa Road within the next two months. The meeting also included a review of other projects where land hurdles have been holding back progress. With these major roadworks seen as vital for easing Pune’s growing traffic burden, authorities assured that efforts will now be intensified to speed up the acquisition process and ensure smoother execution.
