Purandar Airport Moves Ahead with Land Measurement in Seven Villages.

27 Sep 2025

The long-delayed Purandar International Airport project has gained fresh momentum as the Pune district administration began the land measurement process on Friday. Officials from multiple departments, including land records and agriculture, are surveying not just farmland but also houses, wells, trees, and cattle sheds to ensure accurate compensation. Nearly 95% of affected farmers—around 3,220 across seven villages—have consented to give up 2,810 acres. With 200 acres already available, the state has achieved its revised target of 3,000 acres required for the project, marking a major step toward making the airport a reality.

Farmers are set to receive four times the land value, 10% of developed land in the upcoming Aero City, and compensation for existing structures, as per MIDC’s 2019 rehabilitation law. While many villagers expressed emotional attachment to their land, officials see this development as a turning point for a project expected to decongest Pune airport and boost regional connectivity. The commencement of measurement signals that the state is pushing forward on a project once stalled by strong farmer protests.
