Commissioner Orders Action to Clear Traffic Bottlenecks on 32 Pune Roads

25 Sep 2025

The municipal commissioner on Wednesday reviewed 32 major city roads that carry nearly 85% of Pune’s traffic and issued directives to ease congestion. During the meeting, attended by officials from multiple departments, engineering teams presented reports on traffic bottlenecks across key stretches such as Karve Road, Bajirao Road, Jungli Maharaj Road, Fergusson College Road, Ganeshkhind Road, Ahmednagar Road, Satara Road, Solapur Road, and the Old Pune Mumbai Road.
After reviewing the findings, the commissioner directed immediate corrective measures, including removal of illegal constructions, hawkers, electric poles, and other obstructions disrupting vehicle movement. He also ordered the closure of unnecessary U-turns and emphasized close coordination among the municipal administration, traffic police, MSEDCL, and other service providers to ensure smoother flow on the city’s arterial roads.
