Wagholi Residents Stage Protest Over Poor Road Conditions

31 Aug 2025

More than 150 frustrated residents of Wagholi hit the streets on Saturday to demand urgent repairs of the battered 4-km Wagholi-Kesnand road. They said that despite repeated follow-ups with authorities, only temporary patchwork has been carried out, which worsens after every spell of rain, leaving potholes and broken patches that make commuting risky. Members of the Wagholi Housing Residents Association (WHRA), which represents over 250 housing societies, stressed that the road has become unsafe and called for a permanent solution instead of quick fixes.
Residents blamed the road’s rapid deterioration on the area’s fast-growing population, rising construction activity, and heavy vehicle movement. They pointed out that incomplete concreting, rough surfaces, and poor maintenance have made things worse, leading to daily traffic chaos. Local leaders also backed the residents’ agitation, warning that if the Public Works Department (PWD) and Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) don’t act soon, stronger protests will follow. For many in Wagholi, the issue is not just about inconvenience, but about basic safety and quality of life.
