The Pune Municipal Corporation’s newly launched PMC Road Mitra app made an active debut, receiving 47 pothole complaints within hours of its Tuesday evening rollout. Impressively, the civic body managed to resolve five of them on the very same day. As per PMC’s guidelines, all reported potholes must be addressed within 70 hours. The road department chief, Aniruddha Pawaskar, said the app was created to make it easier for residents to report and track potholes, ensuring quicker repairs and better road safety.
Officials say potholes not only damage vehicles but also slow down traffic and put commuters at risk. With this app, citizens can directly connect with PMC engineers, enabling a faster response to repair needs. The initiative aims to involve residents as active partners in improving Pune’s infrastructure, reflecting a growing push towards tech-enabled, citizen-driven solutions for everyday urban problems.
