A recent survey by Maha Metro has found that nearly 30% of Pune Metro commuters are using feeder services such as PMPML buses and autorickshaws to reach stations. However, regular passengers have highlighted that the current feeder network lacks adequate routes and frequency, especially during peak hours. Many suggested that increasing PMPML bus routes within a 3 km radius and enforcing shared autorickshaw services could significantly improve last-mile connectivity for Metro users.
With 30 operational Metro stations across Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad, the daily ridership has now reached around 2 lakh passengers. While PMPML has already aligned some routes to match Metro timings, low frequency and poor coordination remain key challenges. Maha Metro officials confirmed that discussions are ongoing with PMPML, RTO, and traffic police to enhance feeder transport and make public travel smoother. Commuters are also urging authorities to regulate auto fares and promote shared travel options from major Metro stations like Garware College, Deccan Gymkhana, and Kothrud.
