New U-Turns on Nagar Road Spark Traffic Trouble Across Pune.
Residents on Pune Nagar Road are raising concerns about the new U turns at Agnibaz junction and Khulewadi as the traffic situation has become more unpredictable. Many people using Pune Nagar Road are reporting an increase in wrong side driving, speeding, and traffic rule violations after earlier traffic diversions were introduced. Pedestrians say that Pune Municipal Corporation has not provided basic walking space or safe crossing points, which has made daily movement more difficult for senior citizens and regular commuters.
Officials claim that the new U turns on Pune Nagar Road will reduce peak hour congestion and support smoother flow across the Shastrinagar to Kharadi stretch. However, citizens argue that the lack of safety measures and poor on ground planning continue to create risk for both vehicles and pedestrians. Several residents from Viman Nagar, Kalyani Nagar, and Kharadi have observed that the deactivation of signals combined with new diversions has encouraged unsafe shortcuts and higher vehicle speeds. The recent review visit by PMC and traffic police officials shows that the situation is being monitored, but residents are still waiting for clear improvements.
