Eastern Pune Residents Continue to Struggle with Water Supply Issues
Residents from Kharadi, Keshavnagar, Wagholi, and Mundhwa voiced strong concerns over poor water supply during a joint meeting with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officials on Wednesday. Citizens complained of inadequate quantity, low water pressure, and poor quality, forcing many housing societies to rely heavily on private water tankers, which has become a financial burden. They said the lack of a robust distribution network and delayed infrastructure works had worsened the crisis. Residents of Kharadi pointed out that water distribution timings were uneven some pockets receive water for nearly three hours while others get less than an hour pushing many societies to purchase water.
Residents from Keshavnagar and Manjari added that despite PMC granting connections, supply remained insufficient, and builders were failing to provide reliable access to water. Many also raised concerns about tanker water quality, demanding stricter checks. Members of local housing federations urged PMC to regulate valve operations better, ensure equal supply across all areas, and take legal action against builders who neglect water arrangements. They stressed that despite being brought under PMC limits, several areas still face erratic and inadequate supply, leaving people with no choice but to spend extra on tankers for basic needs.
