Residents of Kalyaninagar have strongly objected to Chief Minister recent statement in the Maharashtra assembly, dismissing concerns about traffic congestion and accidents caused by the area’s pubs and bars. Responding to a question from the Wadgaon Sheri MLA, the CM who also holds the home portfolio claimed that complaints about double parking and related issues were unfounded, citing only six complaints received over two years. He further asserted that all establishments in the area hold valid licenses and that police have acted on any violations.
Locals, however, tell a very different story. Long-time residents described chaotic traffic, noise pollution, and overcrowding particularly during weekends as serious, ongoing issues that disturb their peace and safety. They pointed out that while traffic authorities are somewhat active during the day, the real need is for strict enforcement at night when bars are busiest. Residents noted that temporary actions by authorities haven’t solved the problem, and called for stronger, lasting solutions. Many feel the surge in nightlife has transformed the quiet neighbourhood, and they are urging officials to take their grievances more seriously.
