Pune Municipal Corporation is expected to generate around ₹200 crore every year from building permissions in merged areas after planning powers shifted from PMRDA to PMC. This change in Pune building permission authority is aimed at streamlining approvals, reducing administrative overlap, and improving governance in fast growing suburban zones that were added to PMC limits in 2017.
The PMC merged areas development plan covers nine villages with a current population of nearly six lakh, projected to rise significantly by 2035. Civic officials have linked this revenue to infrastructure investment of over ₹1,500 crore, including water supply networks and sewage treatment systems, while residents in areas like Ambegaon continue to highlight gaps between rapid real estate development and basic civic services.
