University Chowk Flyover Nears Completion, Major Relief Expected on Ganeshkhind Road

04 Jan 2026

After years of congestion at University Chowk and along Ganeshkhind Road, Pune commuters may soon see sustained traffic relief as the integrated double decker flyover at Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk reaches its final construction phase. PMRDA officials confirmed that nearly 90 percent of the flyover project is complete, with only ramp works pending, while the Aundh to Shivajinagar stretch has already been opened to traffic, offering partial improvement in travel conditions.

The remaining Baner and Pashan side ramps are expected to open in phases by the end of January and February, subject to utility clearances, which is likely to further reduce delays on one of Pune’s busiest corridors. Once fully operational, the 1.7 kilometre integrated flyover with Metro is expected to significantly improve traffic flow between Shivajinagar, Aundh, Baner and Pashan, benefiting daily commuters from Pune’s western suburbs and easing pressure on Ganeshkhind Road.
