Daily commuters in Pune have raised concerns over the poor condition of several roads that were not included in the recent international cycling event, urging Pune Municipal Corporation to take up repairs on priority. While the PMC resurfaced around 75 kilometres of key roads such as JM Road, FC Road, SB Road, University Road, Karve Road and Tilak Road, residents say many heavily used internal roads continue to suffer from uneven surfaces, potholes and misaligned drainage chamber lids.
Commuters highlighted stretches near Model Colony, Lakaki Road, Pune railway station and the RTO area as requiring urgent attention due to patchwork failures and unsafe riding conditions. Residents from newly merged areas like Manjari Road said long pending widening and maintenance work has worsened daily travel. PMC officials stated that a target has been set to repair at least 50 drainage chamber lids per week and that contractors will maintain roads upgraded for the cycling event, while local engineers have been instructed to begin repairs on other stretches.
