Vimannagar Resident Challenges One Way Traffic Plan Over Safety Concerns

07 Feb 2026

A Vimannagar resident has issued a legal notice to Pune police demanding the immediate withdrawal of the one way traffic system introduced in the locality, citing safety and planning concerns. The notice alleges that the traffic changes were implemented arbitrarily without proper public consultation and have made daily movement unsafe for pedestrians and senior citizens. The revised plan, introduced on November 15, converted key stretches including Gangapuram Chowk to Ganpati Mandir Chowk and Shrikrishna Chowk to CCD Chowk into one way corridors.

The notice claims that despite official assertions of smoother traffic flow, the Vimannagar one way traffic plan has led to confusion, congestion and increased risk due to poor signage and missing pedestrian crossings. It also highlights the absence of strict enforcement against illegal parking and roadside encroachments, especially by commercial vehicles. The resident has sought a consultative meeting with authorities within fifteen days and warned of legal action through a writ petition in the Bombay High Court if the current traffic arrangement is not revoked or reviewed.
