MIDC Prepares ₹6,000 Crore Outlay for Purandar Airport Land Acquisition

21 Dec 2025

Land acquisition for the proposed Purandar airport in Pune district is expected to move forward as the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation plans to allocate around ₹6,000 crore for the process. The Pune district administration has already submitted the proposal, and officials say it is in the final stages of clearance. The acquisition covers nearly 1,285 hectares across seven villages, with farmer consent received for most of the land, while approvals for a small portion are still pending.

Under the existing notification, farmers have been offered compensation of ₹1 crore per acre along with additional benefits such as double compensation for on-site assets, payment for fruit-bearing trees, and 10 percent developed land. However, affected farmers have rejected the offer, demanding higher rates and better rehabilitation benefits similar to those provided in projects like the Pune ring road and Navi Mumbai airport. The district administration is now planning meetings between farmer representatives and the state government to negotiate compensation and finalize the rehabilitation package for the Purandar airport project
