After nearly three years without elected corporators, Pune is set to hold civic body elections on January 15, bringing renewed focus on long pending ward level issues. While residents learned to directly coordinate with the Pune Municipal Corporation for smaller civic problems, the absence of corporators and a standing committee led to delays in major infrastructure projects, budget approvals, and long term urban planning across the city.
Key residential zones such as Kothrud, Bavdhan, Shivajinagar, Aundh, Baner, Pashan, Kharadi, Wagholi and Vimannagar continue to struggle with water supply stress, rising pollution, traffic congestion, unchecked redevelopment, and waste management failures. With rapid construction driven by Metro expansion and real estate growth, residents are now looking at the upcoming Pune municipal elections as a critical opportunity to restore accountability, revive stalled projects, and align civic planning with ward specific needs.
