After Long Delay, Key Cantonment Roads in Pune Repair Work.

11 Jan 2026

The Local Military Authority has begun long-pending road repair work across civil and military areas within Pune Cantonment Board limits after months of complaints from residents and commuters. Several arterial and internal roads were severely damaged during the monsoon, leading to frequent traffic congestion, vehicle breakdowns, and safety risks. Officials said repairs were delayed due to mandatory tender procedures, but work has now started in phases, with priority given to the most damaged stretches that carry heavy civilian and military traffic.

Roads such as East Street, MG Road, Moledina Road, Arjun Road, Solapur Road, and stretches near the National War Memorial are currently under repair, with additional work planned on 4.5 kilometres of roads in both civil and military pockets. Authorities said traffic coordination measures are being implemented to reduce inconvenience during the repair period. Residents and traders have welcomed the work but stressed the need for timely completion and durable repairs, calling for better coordination between military and civic bodies to prevent prolonged delays in the future.
