Maha Metro Invites Bids for Ramwadi–Wagholi Metro and Six Lane Elevated Road

28 Jan 2026

The next phase of Pune Metro expansion is set to move forward as Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited has invited bids for the construction of a Metro viaduct and a parallel six lane elevated road on the Ramwadi–Wagholi corridor. This stretch is part of the Phase 2 Metro network and spans 11.6 km with 11 planned stations. In the first phase, bids have been floated for a 4.8 km viaduct from Ramwadi to Tuljabhavani Chowk, covering stations at Vimannagar, Somnathnagar, Kharadi Bypass, and Tuljabhavani. Alongside this, a 4.7 km six lane elevated road with solid ramps will be built to ease traffic on Nagar Road, one of Pune’s most congested routes.

The Ramwadi–Wagholi Metro line was sanctioned in June 2025 at an estimated cost of ₹3,626.2 crore, with the first phase expected to be completed within 42 months from the start of construction. Maha Metro officials said groundwork will begin after technical clearances and tender processes conclude by early March. Daily commuters on Nagar Road have urged authorities to adhere strictly to timelines, citing frequent evening traffic snarls. Residents have also requested that the entire 11.6 km corridor be executed in a single phase to avoid prolonged disruption. Meanwhile, Maha Metro has confirmed that a feasibility study to extend Metro connectivity to Lohegaon Airport is currently underway
