PMRDA Inner Ring Road Moves Ahead Land Rates Fixed for 11 Villages

09 Mar 2026

The Pune district administration has hit a major milestone for the PMRDA Inner Ring Road project by finalizing land compensation rates for 11 of the 14 required villages. District Collector Suhas Diwase confirmed that survey and measurement data for approximately 300 acres have been submitted to the PMRDA, signaling the immediate start of the acquisition phase. To ensure a smooth transition and avoid the legal hurdles that often plague large-scale infrastructure, the state is aggressively promoting a "direct purchase" model. This voluntary scheme offers landowners a 25% premium, effectively totaling two and a half times the standard compensation, incentivizing farmers and local residents to cooperate in exchange for fair market value.

The 77.4-km-long Inner Ring Road is designed as a 65-meter-wide corridor that will bypass Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad’s core areas, connecting the Pune-Satara Road to Nagar Road. Spanning the talukas of Khed, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval, the project includes specialized infrastructure such as railway flyovers, tunnels, and a dedicated five-meter corridor reserved for future Metro expansion. With ₹113 crore already allocated for land acquisition and 30% of these funds deposited with the collector’s office, the project is moving from the planning stage to ground reality, aiming to create a high-speed bypass that integrates with 42 existing connecting roads.
