Incomplete PMC Road Repairs Trigger Traffic Chaos in Pune

25 Dec 2025

Incomplete road works across Pune are increasingly disrupting daily travel, with dug-up stretches, uneven surfaces, and traffic congestion affecting key corridors such as Tilak Road, Fergusson College Road, and University Road. Road milling activities by the Pune Municipal Corporation have intensified ahead of the Pune Grand Tour 2026, but delays in resurfacing have raised serious concerns about commuter safety, traffic flow, and accident risks, especially for two-wheelers and cars.

Residents say PMC road repair planning lacks coordination, as milling and drainage replacement works often begin without prior notice, traffic diversions, or clear timelines. Although civic officials state that milling typically takes 24 to 48 hours, many Pune roads remain unfinished beyond this period due to material shortages and execution delays. With over 75 km of city roads under revamp, citizens are demanding fixed deadlines, better communication, and stronger accountability to ensure safer and smoother movement across Pune.
