State Govt Clears Pune’s Long-Pending Draft DP for Merged Villages.

18 Oct 2025

After almost eight years of waiting, the Maharashtra government has approved the draft Development Plan (DP) for the merged villages under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The official notification has been published, and citizens can now submit suggestions and objections over the next 60 days. This draft DP plays a crucial role in guiding land use, infrastructure development, and zoning regulations for the city’s expanding boundaries.

The draft Development Plan covers nine areas that remain under PMC’s jurisdiction after the demerger of Phursungi and Uruli Devachi in 2024. These include Lohegaon, Keshavnagar, Sadesataranali in Hadapsar, Uttamnagar in Shivane, and other partially merged villages such as Undri, Dhayari, and Ambegaon. The planning process is based on a projected population growth from six lakh in 2025 to eight lakh by 2035. The approval marks a major step forward in long-pending urban planning for Pune’s newly merged zones, setting the framework for future housing, transport, and public services.
