The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has achieved a record-breaking ₹966 crore property tax collection for the financial year 2024-25, with 5.02 lakh regular taxpayers and 92,465 newly assessed properties contributing to this success. To enhance efficiency, PCMC implemented strict measures, including pre-seizure notices, property sealing, and water disconnections for defaulters. In total, 1,072 properties faced direct seizure, and 434 are set for auction in April-May 2025. The administration also leveraged innovative outreach methods like social media campaigns, auto-rickshaw announcements, SMS alerts, and tele-calling to encourage compliance. Tax breakdowns revealed ₹579 crore from residential properties, ₹227.39 crore from non-residential properties, ₹54 crore from industrial properties, and ₹71.79 crore from mixed-use properties. The highest collections came from Wakad (₹112.54 crore), Chikhali (₹109.40 crore), and Thergaon (₹91.26 crore), while digital payments dominated, with online transactions contributing ₹577.70 crore.
PCMC also introduced special initiatives to boost tax awareness, including a “Conscious Taxpayer” competition that reached over five lakh people. More than three lakh taxpayers benefited from ₹31 crore in concessions, with online payers receiving ₹23.36 crore in discounts. Additionally, ₹126.45 crore was recovered from seized properties, and newly assessed properties added ₹95 crore. For the upcoming financial year, PCMC aims to launch a “Zero-Defaulter” campaign, expand seizure actions, and enforce stricter measures like vehicle confiscations and housing society parking checks. PCMC Commissioner expressed gratitude to citizens for their contributions, emphasizing their role in city development, while officials reaffirmed their commitment to making the municipal corporation debt-free through aggressive recovery and enforcement strategies.
